DAY 1: Thursday, July 29th

Posted on July 29, 2021October 8, 2025 by admin

Off We Go . . .

We woke up early: we’re full of anticipation. I’m bustling about finding random, non-trip-related tasks to do. Adam and the boys spend the morning transferring the stuff we had set out on the living room floor to the car. (For future reference, we call the car Natasha.

The packing process went about as you’d expect . . . something about square holes and round pegs.

I had a couple of last-minute meetings for work and, thus, unavailable to help Adam, my engineer-husband arrange, unpack, repack, offload, curse, then press the close button on Natasha whilst holding back the bag-alanche about to topple. Mercifully, the hatch closed.

It was time to go.

We grabbed the obligatory family photo in front of the house, which I’ll share once I know how to blog better. Then, we got in, put it in reverse, and pulled out of our driveway at 12:30. It’s a late start, and we’ve got a long drive ahead of us – just over 500 miles.

Louisville, Kentucky, look out.
