The haze is actually smoke that drifted from the Dixie Wildfire burning in California. Cal-Fire is still fighting this now month-long blaze, and containment remains indeterminate.
We rented our walking sticks at the park entrance and rode the free park shuttle bus to the last stop: The Temple of Sinawava. We hiked the Riverside Trail about 2 miles roundtrip. We were hemmed in by the vertical walls of the Canyon and cooled by the breezes coming off the Virgin River.
It’s all so impossibly impressive. My neck ached from looking straight up.
